This trip had a few snags but no major problems. After we boarded the United 747 in Tokyo for the flight to Chicago, the captain announced a mechanical problem that they decided to fix rather than to switch aircraft, so we sat in the plane for 1.5 hours during the repairs, and that delay put us into Chicago late so that I missed my connections to Louisville and had to take a later flight. Then only one of my two pieces of luggage arrived in Louisville with me and the other stayed in Chicago. |

Before leaving Louisville, Charlie visited a shopkeeper in the Russian Market with whom he has been dealing for several years whenever he needs to buy khramas or other Cambodia items to take to the United States. |
Then it was a night trip to the airport via tuk-tuk for a flight departing Phnom Penh at 9:10 PM for Bangkok. |
This flight was on Thai International Airways. Normally it is cheaper to take a smaller carrier, but this time Thai was the choice because of a combination of price and departure times. Charlie arrived in Bangkok at 10:20 PM and slept on the floor of the airport until a morning flight to the United States. |
