I left Louisville Saturday morning after a 5:30 AM departure from my sister's home. Brother-in-law Mike is a generous, flexible husband, father, and friend always willing to accommodate my odd hours of arrival and departure with rides to and from the airport. From Louisville it was on to Chicago and then Tokyo, arriving Sunday afternoon. One more flight took us to Bangkok where we landed at 11:30 PM. I slept on a bench in the transfer area of the Bangkok airport, and on Monday morning made the last one-hour flight to Phnom Penh. |

The sun was just coming up when we arrived at the gate area in the Louisville airport. This bench has electrical outlets for computers and Google is offering free wi-fi in that airport till mid January, so it was a good place to work before the flight. |
|
28 hours later I was in Bangkok, arriving at 11:30 PM, and I used one of these benches in the transfer area as a bed for a short night's sleep. |
|
Monday morning at 9:00 AM we landed in Phnom Penh, and it was back to the chaos of the city streets. This SUV is straddling the line. It is such a common occurrence in Phnom Penh that drivers must think they are supposed to do that. |

After a shower and unpacking the essentials, I was back at the DDP office in the afternoon, with a chance to talk to the staff and students at the end of the work day. |
