My second trip to Kentucky was mainly to speak at Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Louisville. I was fortunate to be able to have my aunt's funeral on Saturday morning, and then Saturday evening and Sunday I spoke at all the masses for the weekend. |

Our Lady of Lourdes parish had one of the old square box churches but it was renovated and integrated into a parish complex of facilities. Now this view from the sanctuary looks to the back of the church which used to be the sanctuary area. Now it contains a baptismal pool, and on this Sunday Fr. Nick Rice was waist deep in the pool baptizing a dozen infants. |
After changing out of his wet clothes and vestments, Fr. Rice was back to greet friends and relatives of the babies' families in the lobby area of the church. |
This new entranceway gives access to the school, a parish hall and offices, and to the worship space. |
In the evening I went to visit my sister, Jane Dittmeier Browne and her husband David and their daughter Emily, a 2009 graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati. |
