Retreat Day 514 January 2009
|
Timothy Radcliffe gave two more retreat talks this morning, finishing up his theologizing on the liturgy of the eucharist and then speaking about leadership. Jack Corcoran from Nepal made a comment in the reflection time after the first talk.
After the second talk, the last of the retreat, Sr. Regina Pellicore presented Timothy Radcliffe with a gift from all of those who had benefitted so much from his retreat talks. Fr. Radcliffe left shortly afterwards for a conference in Indonesia.
The breaks provide plenty of interesting snacks and a chance for people to come together in a more informal way. Here Ann Sherman, Mary Little, Sam Stanton, and Bill Velicky meet at the snack table.
A good sign that something is going on inside a church in Thailand or Cambodia is the multitude of shoes that will be lined up outside. Shoes are never worn in a place of worship in these countries.
The mass today honored those celebrating their jubilees this year. Fr. Jose Aramburu celebrated his 25th anniversary as a priest today.
Fr. Doug Venne from Bangladesh is celebrating his 50th anniversary this year and was the presider at this morning's liturgy. Also celebrating an anniversary, her 70th as a Maryknoll Sister, was Sr. Cecelia Wood.
The faithful guitar group that provides so much music each year is losing one of its East Timor guitarists this year, but just in time to replace him is Peggy Vamosy, another guitarist, who has also been assigned to East Timor.
The Cambodia Mission Team had a lunch meeting today with Sam Stanton and Alicia Butkiewicz, the leadership of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners, to talk about the possibility of new members and some of the constraints imposed by the current economic downturn.
