Today was split between the Seminary building, the headquarters of the Maryknoll Society (the priests and brothers), and the Bethany buildiing, the headquarters of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners. They are 3/4 of a mile apart on the eastern edge of Ossining, New York. The first pictures shows a side view of the front part of the Bethany building; the second picture shows the addition built on the rear of the original buildiing. |
At Bethany, Charlie's first event was a meeting with Alicia Butkiewicz, one half of the leadership team and the Director of Mission for the Maryknoll Lay Missioners, to check in and update leadership on what is happening in Cambodia and in the Deaf Development Programme. The meeting was timely because on this trip to Maryknoll, NY, Charlie will renew his five-year contract with Maryknoll to continue serviing in Cambodia. |

In the afternoon, Charlie met with Carolyn Ouellet who is participatiing in the Maryknoll International Service Orientation taking place at Bethany. Carolyn will serve with the Salesian Sisters in Cambodia, in a school where Charlie also works. The MISO program is a two-week orientation which prepares missioners from other mission groups for work overseas. |

At the seminary building, Charlie met with personnel from the Society's vocation office about a new five-year contract. The contract is a three-way agreement between the Maryknoll Society, Charlie, and the Archbishop of Louisville, his boss. This picture is of the end of the chapel wing at the Maryknoll Seminary. |
