St. Pius X Church

Tulsa, Oklahoma

St. Pius X Church was the second parish I spoke in on this trip to the United States. This visit was unusual because of its brevity. I flew to Tulsa on Saturday, arriving about noon, spoke at four masses, and then flew back to Louisville in mid afternoon on Sunday. I really had very little time to actually talk to Fr. Michael Knipe, the pastor, and Joe Thummel, a seminarian there for the summer, because they had a wedding and other events that took them away from the parish during that time.

Joe Thummel and Mike Knipe I had heard much about Fr. Michael Knipe (right) from a Maryknoll Lay Missioner, Dee Barlow, who is from Tulsa. All the good things she said about him were true, and it was a most pleasant visit to his parish. Staying at St. Pius for the summer is Seminarian Joe Thummel who is in the second year of theology at the seminary in Denver.
