Closing Mass

Caritas Magdalene School in Wanchai on Hong Kong Island. The school is located at the top of a hill at the end of short street leading up from one of the main roads in the heart of Wanchai.
Sr. Theresa Chien with friends Sr. Theresa Chien (r), a Canossian Sister, was the foundress of the Caritas Magdalene School which was called the Canossa School for the Deaf in its early days. Here she is greeted before the mass by friends and former colleagues.
Early arrivals for the mass Some of the Catholic deaf people who arrived early for the mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church just a few hundred feet from the school.
Inside Mt. Carmel Church Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church is a small church built into one of the high rise residential buildings in Wanchai on Hong Kong Island.
Fr. Michael Yeung The celebrant for the mass was Fr. Michael Yeung who works in various capacities with Caritas Hong Kong, the present sponsor of the deaf school.
Amy Chan, CMS principal Ms. Amy Chan succeeded Sr. Theresa Chien as the principal of Caritas Magdalene School. At the mass she proclaimed the first scripture reading.
Peggy Fund, sign language interpreter Peggy Fung is a volunteer with the Hong Kong Catholic deaf group, and for this mass she was called on to be the sign language interpreter for the mass.
