Hong Kong
17 August 2007

Via Vai Travel staff Today I reserved for wandering around my old Hong Kong neighborhoods. One stop was at Via Vai Travel where I said hello to old friends Sef Lam (rear), Florence Chan (right), and Edna at their new office in Central.
Small corner park Land and space is everything in Hong Kong. Wherever possible, the government grabs land for small "sitting parks" like this corner in urban Wanchai.
Small urban market Now in busy commercial areas, some long-standing street markets such as this one have survived to serve the residents of the urban areas.
Usual Hong Kong pedestrian traffic Hong Kong streets are bustling 24 hours a day. This scene is not rush hour but just the middle of the afternoon.
Legistlature building downtown The dome of the legislature building rises above trees in another urban park in Central.
Tunnels, skyscrapers, and streets full of traffic
Skyscrapers, tunnels, and streets full of traffic mark the Central business district.
Kowloon skyline Crossing the harbor on the Star Ferry from Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon skylines rises on the mainland.
Hong Kong residences A residential neighborhood on Hong Kong Island. No one lives in single-family dwellings except the VERY rich.
Docking the Star Ferry
Even in an age of technology, deckhands handle the hawsers that secure the Star Ferry to its berth after a harbor crossing.
Dusk at Stanley On the other side of Hong Kong Island, at Stanley, dusk falls on a much quieter scene on the South China Sea.
