Presbyteral Assembly
St. Meinrad, Indiana

5-8 June 2006

St. Meinrad Abbey Church Again this year the priests (presbyterate) of the Archdiocese of Louisville met with Archbishop Thomas Kelly at St. Meinrad Seminary in southern Indiana for four days of reflection and discussion. The program for this year was called "Intentional Presbyterates: claiming our common sense of purpose as diocesan priests."  This program was designed by one of the Louisville priests, Ronald Knott, a classmate of Charlie Dittmeier, who is working with various dioceses from an office at St. Meinrad Seminary.

Registration for the assembly Many of the Louisville priests studied at St. Meinrad and almost all of the others are familiar with the campus so it is a comfortable venue for this assembly and not too far from Louisville. This year the new guest house was open and registration for the assembly was held there.
Archbishop Kelly addressing the priests After dinner, Archbishop Kelly gave his annual "state of the archdiocese" address to the priests before they left the dining room.
Break time This year's program is different because all of the speakers are from within the diocese. In other years, outside speakers were invited for specific topics. Here many of the Louisville priests gather in an interior courtyard during a break.
Charlie Dittmeier and friends Charlie Dittmeier explains life in Cambodia to Tony Olges, Frank Eimer, and Don Goetz.
A theater in the meeting complex The last event of the day was the screening of a movie "The Ninth Day," about priests in the Dachau concentration camp under the Nazis. Quite powerful!
