Time in Louisville 2

Odds and Ends in Louisville
One benefit of having more time in Louisville this trip is that I am able to contact friends and family. One group I especially want to meet with are the "Lost Boys of St. Thomas Seminary," the hundreds of students who went through the minor seminary on Brownsboro Road in Louisville between 1952 and 1970 when it closed. Three years ago, planning for a reunion of the class ahead of Charlie Dittmeier's, several members of the class of 1963 began contacting other classmates and set up a mailing list for ease of communications and to help find the now "lost boys" who had gone to school together. Other former classes were invited to participate also, and since that time a strong core group of former students and faculty has developed on the mailing list. There is a gathering every year on Derby weekend but other gatherings are held once a month or whenever a group of the guys can get together.

Bill Kinney, Charlie Dittmeier, and Bob StuempelBill Kinney (left) and Bob Stuempel (right) are members of the St. Thomas Seminary class of 1969. Their first year at St. Thomas was Charlie Dittmeier's last year there. Here they meet for lunch, the first time to be together in 42 years.
