The trip home was a long one, 39 hours from the airport in Phnom Penh to the airport in Kentucky. The itinerary went Phnom Penh/Bangkok/Tokyo/Chicago/Louisville. The worst part was getting into Bangkok at 10:30 PM and not leaving until 7:00 AM the next morning for Tokyo. Fortunately, from previous experience, I know a couple places where it's convenient to sleep on the floor in the Bangkok transit lounge so I got a few hours sleep that night. Chicago was a bit chaotic. The airport was jammed with people and many flights were delayed. My flight was assigned to five different gates before we finally took off 1½ hours late. Fortunately my brother and his sons persevered in their wait for me. This picture is of a 747 in the setting sun at Chicago.
