At my last couple physical exams, my doctor informed me of the progress of cataracts that were developing. Now it is time to take care of them and I went to the Takeo Eye Hospital. |

3 May 2016 Maryknoll worked with CBM to set up the Takeo Eye Hospital (TEH)to train eye doctors and eye nurses. This is a picture from the opening of their new building in 2010. Now I will be going back there as a patient with surgery scheduled on the first eye for Thursday morning, 5 May 2016. The hospital doesn't have a nursing service or a food service so I'm sure there is no wi-fi(!) so updates here will have to wait until I return, hopefully with better vision! |

4 May 2016 This is Mr. Te Serey Bonn who is the director of the Takeo Eye Hospital. He has established a very fine hospital, one of the three regional hospitals for eye care in Cambodia, and TEH provided fine care for me when I had a cataract removed today. I stayed overnight and then returned to Phnom Penh the next morning after the bandages were removed. Next week I will go back to Takeo for a follow-up examination, and then in one month I will have the cataract on the other eye removed. |
