Our master decorator in Maryknoll Cambodia is Fr. Bob Wynne who seems to have unlimited ideas and energy to implement them. Here he is putting up Christmas decorations in the Maryknoll office. A departing family gave us the huge tree a couple years ago and it has served us well. Bob made the wreath he is hanging and five others.
One of the headaches of our situation--without a church we can call our own--is the need to move stuff from one site to another because we decorated the Maryknoll office and then the World Vision auditorium we use for Saturday night mass and then the hall at St. Joseph Church we use on Sunday mornings. Here Bob is packing a box of banners to take to St. Joseph Church as he takes them down at the office.
This is the nativity scene Bob set up at World Vision where we have our Saturday night masses. They have recently instituted strict fire safety regulations so we use mostly battery-powered candles instead of the real thing.
At St. Joseph Church, where we celebrate on Sunday mornings, Bob put up banners he had made and replaced the crucifix with the Marian hanging.
This is the nativity scene Bob created at St. Joseph Church in the hall used by the English-speaking community.
A man with many ideas for decorating--like Bob Wynne--is Fr. Bruno Cosme who is pastor of the Khmer congregation at St. Joseph Church. But he has a bigger budget and a bigger stage than Bob. Here he has set up a huge Christmas tree in the courtyard outside the church, along with a stage for a Christmas morning celebration after mass.
Part of the outdoor creation at St. Joseph Church was this huge nativity scene set up in the yard. And this year Fr. Bruno outdid himself by bringing in two live oxen for the parish celebration. |
