Christmas Day is a regular work day in Cambodia. Charlie Dittmeier had a 10:00 AM mass in the morning at the Khmer parish, but for most of the Maryknollers, it was business as usual in the AIDS project, at the university, in the resettlement areas, etc. But at the end of the day, all the Maryknoller got together at 6:00 PM for a Christmas dinner, each of us bringing some dish. A few foreign Christians who would otherwise be alone on Christmas joined us for the meal. |
Preparations began inside, putting on an old plastic Christmas tablecloth someone found in a drawer.
Back in the kitchen Bill Burns and Regina Pellicore got things ready.
Bill Burns like the table to be just SO and Bob Wynne is willing to go along with it.
About 5:30 PM, the guests started to arrive.
Fr. Bob Wynne led a prayer of blessing before the group went in to eat.
Finally it was time to eat. The main course was a turkey. The mashed potatoes are always a big hit among the North Americans and Europeans.
Throughout the evening lots of different conversations took place.
Then it was time for dessert, with many delicious choices.
