Farewell to the Morefields

13 December 2008

John and Kathy Morefield are Maryknoll Associates from Seattle, Washington in the United States, and they spend a good part of each year in Cambodia, offering their skills in training and working with different groups. Now they are preparing to return to the US to reconnect with their family for a while. Tonight all the Maryknollers and several friends were invited to dinner together with the Morefields as a chance to say goodbye until they next return.

Dinner with the Maryknoll group
The farewell dinner was held after the regular Saturday evening mass at a restaurant near the guest house where the Morefields always stay.

Selling a flower to Bong
An expected feature of restaurants in this touristy area is the appearance of a small child selling flowers to make money for her family. Often the mother and daughters will spend the day cutting flowers and arranging or assembling small flower pieces and then the younger children sell them to the foreigners in the restaurants.
