Trip to Italy
and United States

June-July, 2008

9 July 2008 (Wednesday)
Day 22

The Graehler family and Judith English This morning a cousin, Karen Graehler, and four of her five children came to visit me at the English home. It was delightful to see them again and to learn of the activities of her sons and daughters.

Pastoral workers with the deaf in Louisville Another delightful visit today was with fellow pastoral workers with deaf people in Louisville. Four of them are sign language interpreters, and three of those I knew from Angela Merici High School when I taught there. Also joining the dinner together in a restaurant was Fr. Brian Lambertson who is now working part-time with the Catholic deaf group in Louisville.  From left to right are Donna, Norma, Charlie, Sally, Nancy (who was in Rome with me two weeks ago), and Brian.
Fr. Joe Merkt Another pleasant surprise was seeing Fr. Joe Merkt at the restaurant also! We have known each other since seminary days and have always enjoyed a good friendship. He was having a working supper, using the restaurant's wireless Internet system while he ate.
