Early on Tuesday, 29 July, the trip back to Cambodia began with a flight from Louisville to White Plains, NY to reconnect with the original ticket from Bangkok to White Plains. This connection required an overnight stay at nearby Maryknoll, NY, but that provided an opportunity to meet Maryknoll staff not seen four weeks ago. Then Wednesday morning, July 30, Charlie flew from White Plains to Chicago to Tokyo to Bangkok, arriving there the night of Thursday, 31 July. |

The stopover at Bethany, the headquarters of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners, allowed Charlie to meet Sam Stanton, the new interim executive director of MLM, and Alicia Butkiewicz, the Director of Missions. Charlie missed both of them when he went through Bethany on the way to Kentucky in early July. |

It was interesting to note a young man with dreadlocks and a safety vest over a T-shirt hanging down to his knees on the ramp at the Louisville airport and then compare his attire with these Japanese ground crew members at the Tokyo airport where all wear suits or uniforms. |

The United international terminal at Narita airport in Tokyo is one of the best for spaciousness and the absence of a feeling of having people crowded around. Narita also provides more AC outlets for laptop users than most other airports. |
