Before he left for vacation, Fr. Charlie Thessing watered his banana trees which he has grown from trees planted by his grandfather.
Observing wild birds is a hobby of Fr. Charlie Thessing. He has installed these bird feeders right outside his upstairs office window. The glass in the windows has a silvery mirror tint so that the birds cannot see into the office to observe Charlie watching them literally inches away.
The Sacred Heart Church rectory is modern but some of the furniture speaks of an earlier age. And the wild animal motif appears often as befits a state that calls itself the "Natural State."
During my week in Morrilton, I used the rectory dining room as an office and was able to spread papers out in a convenient fashion.
A local bank invited citizens of the community to a fish dinner and then a presentation about their Diamond Club, a social and travel group for their over-50 customers. They had a very good turnout despite a last-minute thunderstorm deluge.
After introductions and the fish dinner, the bank invited the crowd to play bingo for a variety of prizes donated by merchants from Morrilton.
