Across the street from the rectory and behind the church is an old convent building where several offices were located. It was damaged by a freak hail storm that broke windows and shredded roofs and dented cars.

The first person Charlie met at Immaculate Conception was Isobel who is one of the pillars of the parish and of the community. She has been responsible for maintaining the sacristy and other duties for more than twenty years. She graciously took Charlie home after the last mass on Sunday to feed him.
