I arrived in Rome at 9:00 AM and took the train and a subway to the President Hotel where I was able to check in ahead of the group. Then I walked across old Rome to the Maryknoll house pictured here, called Collegio Maryknoll, located on the north side of town. I will stay here when the deaf group leaves.
Even the ordinary streets in old Rome have a distinctive style and character about them.
Probably more attractive to the tourists, though, are the many streets throughout old Rome with magnificent fountains and memorials as part of the everyday landscape.
In the evening each group had to send a representative to the English College, near the Tiber River, to pick up tickets for the papal audience tomorrow and for the other activities scheduled for the next two days. Here Fr. Lam and Peggy Fung check-in for the Hong Kong group to which I was attached.
The Hong Kong group arrived in Rome at 6:30 PM and went straight to the area of the English College to get the tickets. While Fr. Lam and Peggy went to the English College, the rest of the group ate pizza nearby where we joined them later.
Finally at 9:45 PM, the group arrived to check in at their hotel and received final instructions for breakfast and starting out tomorrow.
