Normally I arrive in Bangkok from Phnom Penh at night, sleep on the floor of the airport, and continue on to the United States early the next morning. But this time I scheduled a physical examination at BNH Hospital which Maryknoll uses for our staff in this region. Medical facilities are quite advanced in Bangkok, resulting in a lot of "medical tourism," people who come from Asia or the Middle East for medical care they cannot get at home, and people from Europe and North America who come here for major operations which are 1/8 the cost of an identical operation in the US. |

This is the lobby of BNH. I was there from 6:45 AM until 4:15 PM and went to thirteen different sections and departments as part of the check-up. The quality of the medical care is excellent and there is constant attention from the staff who lead someone like me from department to department throughout the day. |
