The yellow piece to the left of the red wheels is a "slasher," an add-on that allows the Tempest to cut down trees in the way of the clearing operations.  The chain flails can take out anything up to four or five inches in diameter, but bigger than that, the slasher is installed on the front of the vehicle.  The size of the standard Tempest is kept small enough that it can be transported on a regular flatbed farm truck.  Some of the earlier models were even airdropped into former war zones.
