A small NGO run by the Methodist Church operates a little program for children living in a slum by the river. Two huge fires in the last six months have wiped out a good portion of this slum. Here several of the children stand at the door to offer a flower to visitors to their Easter show. The banana trees were added as a sign of celebration. | |
The children, who have almost nothing in the way of this world's goods, certainly had a lot of spirit and put on a good show. It was heavily Christian for the first part, but then the kids performed a series of classical and traditional Khmer dances. They were pretty good and obviously enjoyed performing, probably the only thing in their lives they've been able to succeed at. |
