6 April 2011 About 5,000 people, including elderly Buddhist devotees, scouts, and school children were brought to the ceremony which was held in large tents across the road from the school.
Prime Minister Hun Sen attended the ceremony and celebrated his 60th birthday with the Krousar Thmey family. Organizers must guarantee large numbers of the public in the audience before the Prime Minster will attend. These people have seen the Prime Minister's convoy arrive and are waiting to greet him.

Before the ceremony, Justin Smith, the DDP Associate Director, spoke to some of the deaf Krousar Thmey students as they waited to march to their position to welcome the prime minister.
The school, the second campus for the deaf and blind in Phnom Penh, is probably the largest of the five Krousar Thmey deaf schools. The buildings are constructed of traditional Cambodia school materials but have a little more architectural grace and design that the typical Cambodian school building.
