PALM SUNDAY

Two volunteers prepare the chapel This year the Palm Sunday (Passion Sunday) service was held at the Bishop Ford School chapel because our regular centre was being used for a retreat by the physically disabled groups.  Here members of our liturgy group prepare palm decorations inside the chapel.
Blessing of the palm Every year we try to have part of each of our Holy Week services outside. On Palm Sunday we bless the palm branches near the school office and then walk in procession across the playground to the chapel.
Signing the passion narrative Here three of our gospel proclaiming group use sign language during the passion narrative during the Palm Sunday service.  The white tags with Chinese writing on the front of the lecterns give the names of the person who is talking in the gospel, e.g., Jesus or Pilate or Peter.

Holy Thursday

Good Friday

Big Trouble! On Holy Thursday evening, during the liturgy, I had one of our deaf members take some photographs for me. But on Friday morning when I went to have the film developed, I couldn't find the camera! I still don't know what happened to it, so those pictures, and the rest of this page, will have to wait until I get some photos from one of our other members. Sorry!

Holy Saturday

Lighting the Paschal Candle The beginning of the Easter Vigil liturgy on Holy Saturday night is the kindling of the new fire and then the lighting of the Easter candle.
Baptism at the Easter Vigil Two catechumens were baptized at our Easter Vigil service which was held at our pastoral centre in Homantin.
Incensing the altar Preparing to incense the altar during the Easter Vigil mass. Note the large white poster behind the altar which displays our theme of "Walking Boldly with Jesus" during this year leading up to Jubilee 2000.
