Christine Loh's Initiatives
9 February 2000 Today Christine Loh, head of Hong Kong's Citizens Party, met with Rebecca Siu and me. The main purpose of the meeting was to introduce Rebecca to Christine and her two legislative assistants, Allan Man and Ingrid Tsui, who are preparing HK's first proposals concerning deafness to be introduced into the legislature here. Allan discussed his short-to-long range plans for assisting the deaf community and making the political system more sensitive and responsive to their needs. We had a good exchange of general ideas and I believe all of us left the meeting with renewed enthusiasm. We are extremely lucky here in HK to have a legislator who is sincerely interested in people with disabilities and is laying the groundwork for constructive legislation.
