Visit of the Vatican Nuncio

Apostolic Nuncio Salvatore Pennachio

An apostolic nuncio is a Vatican ambassador or representative of the pope in different countries. Countries with large Catholic populations will have their own nuncio. Cambodia, with only 5,000 Khmer Catholics, shares a nuncio with Thailand, Laos, Burma, Brunei, and Singapore. Msgr. Salvatore Pennachio officially became the new apostolic nuncio for Cambodia yesterday. Here he speaks after being introduced by Bishop Emile Destombes (arms folded).
