Cambodian Water Festival

11-13 November 2008

People and Places

Flags from many nations
Flags from many nations (maybe countries with diplomatic relations with Cambodia? or embassies in Cambodia?) are displayed every day along the waterfront but they add extra color and flair for something like the Water Festival.

Barges with light displays Moored across the river are barges with large frames on which are light displays. At night they are lit up and paraded along the waterfront.

Examining the merchandise I'm not sure what is in the bamboo tubes, but I think it is something edible.

Time to reverence the Buddha This young woman finds time during the festival to make an offering to the Buddha statue along the riverside.

The real workers of the festival The green-coated Cintri workers are out all days in all kinds of weather--and they work! They are probably one of the hardest working groups in Cambodia.
