The course for the races is about 1.5 miles long, and begins upstream near the Japanese Bridge. Here some of the 409 boats entered in the competition wait for the next race. The boats compete two at a time.

Moving to the starting line

The races are amazingly well organized. The person who runs them should be running the country. The only two efficient organizations in the country are the boat racing and the Cintri garbage collection system.
