For hundreds of thousands of people, the Water Festival is a chance to leave the poverty and isolation of a rural village, to go to the big city, to mingle in the huge crowds, maybe even to watch the boat races. For thousands of other Cambodians, the festival is a time to try to earn a little extra income. All sorts of businesses display their wares. All sorts of individuals cook most of the night preparing snacks and foods they sell during the day. |
