The wedding invitation says the reception starts at 4:00 PM but no one shows up then except for the foreigners and people with a special reason. I came then because I wanted to get in and out; I hate Cambodian weddings because of the noise. Absolutely essential is a wall of speakers than can literally be heard a block away and which effectively block any communications. The foreigner in the photo works with the groom. This was his first Khmer wedding so I stayed an extra hour or so to keep him company and to explain what was happening and what we should do.
A tent is always set up for the meal, usually in the street in front of the bride's house. Since there was no room back in the area where Chida lives, the meal tent was erected in a vacant lot nearby. The lot is probably like the community park, used for all such wedding and funeral dinners.
